Work Packages
Work Package Leader: Dietrich MEBS ( Toxinomics Foundation )
Participants: All Partners
Protection, Education, Communication and Valorisation
The results, methods and tools established in the frame of the project will be evaluated for industrial development and application at the level of each partner. A Protection and Valorisation Board will be created constituted by institutional partners, those from private sector and industry (all partners) with the assistance of experts in intellectual property and industrialisation.
The basic premise is that all work in the CONCO project may lead to inventions and should therefore be considered for protection of intellectual property rights (IPR) and for commercial exploitation. The not-for-profit Toxinomics Foundation has been created to serve the participants in the CONCO project in several ways including assistance in IPR identification, protection and exploitation. It is expected in particular to interest industrial partners for the development of novel drugs to meet the patients' needs, which will require a good network to generate partnering opportunities with major pharmaceutical companies that several partners of this Consortium can offer.
The Foundation will further focus its efforts on the search of additional funding, not only to support the drug discovery, drug development programmes, but also the dissemination, education and training activities. To this end a Communication and Education Board will be created with members of CONCO assisted by external professional experts in these fields. Education will be a primary objective of this workpackage and ambitious projects will be conducted that include the edition of a professional movie, a public exhibition for museums, workshops and tutorials, as well as strong interactions with major institutions in the field of marine biodiversity.
The Foundation, under the guidance of Prof Dietrich Mebs who is a key player in the area, will lead this crucial workpackage.
