WP9: Database

Work Packages

Databases and Biocomputing

The whole sets of data generated by the project will be integrated by the Consortium in a common general database. Biodiversity information, genomic, transcriptomic and proteomic information will be cross-linked and submitted to automated and manual annotation by specialists in the field using specifically developed biocomputing tools.

Venom fractions
and the synthetic library, and their respective biological activities will also be integrated. Data provided during lead optimisation and pre-clinical studies shall also be included in dedicated files. References and patents in the fields of interest will be included as well. Specific data- and text-mining and other dedicated biocomputing tools will serve as a central core for a user-friendly interface.

This is expected to generate a central knowledge-based database, which will also be cross-linked to other public or private databases of interest. An Internet platform will be built with different levels of access for use by the Partners and worldwide dissemination of the information with respect to the decisions taken on Protection, Development & Valorisation.
