Founded in 1995 by Dr Reto Stöcklin, Atheris Laboratories is a family-owned and family-driven biotechnology company. Atheris has built a unique world-class expertise and technology platform pertaining to the identification and characterisation of biomolecules. To assist its drug discovery programs, Atheris has developed proprietary databases on animal venoms and antibiotics. Using state-of-the-art separation and analytical methods, Atheris is also a world leader in performing mass spectrometry (MS) assays on polypeptides for in vivo metabolic studies.

Key persons involved in the project:

Dr Reto Stöcklin, President and CEO, team leader in charge of the proposal, has extensive experience in protein chemistry, MS, proteomics, biocomputing and animal venoms. He is co-founder and president of FunZyme Biotechnologies S.A., co-founder and on board of the Swiss Proteomics Society and of the Toxinomics. Dr Philippe Favreau, leader of WP4, has solid industrial experience in protein fractionation, proteomics and de novo sequencing. Dr Florence Armand, leader of WP9, is an expert in database design and development. Dr Sophie Michalet is specialised in MS assay and will be in charge of PK-ADME work in WP8. Dr Ysadora Charital will assist the coordinator in the scientific part of the project. Maya Antonin and Sylvie Stöcklin are used to work together and will provide assistance for administrative and financial matters.
