The "Laboratoire de Neurobiologie Cellulaire et Moléculaire" at Gif-sur-Yvette comprises a number of independent research groups including the team of Dr Jordi Molgo and Dr Evelyne Benoit. This group has expertise in the study of phycotoxins, neurotoxins and conopeptides and has elucidated the mode of action and the cellular targets of unique cone snail peptides with potential therapeutic interest.

Key persons involved in the project:

Dr Molgo is a worldwide leader in the field of electrophysiology and toxinology. He is author of more than 175 publications in physiology, pharmacology and toxinology. He is a member of the Scientific Council of the "Société de Biologie de France". Dr Benoit currently holds a permanent senior researcher position at the CNRS and is specialised in neurophysiology, including the electrophysiological (current-clamp and voltage-clamp techniques) and morphological studies of the cellular and molecular mechanisms. Dr Muriel Amar will participate to voltage-clamp recordings in Xenopus oocytes, Prof Roland Bournaud for patch-clamp recordings in neuroendocrine cells while Mrs Sandrine LeCardeur will contribute for the expression of various receptors in Xenopus oocytes.
